Every July, there is a big tennis tournament, the National Bank Stanley Park Open, that takes place in Stanley Park. This tournament has categories for all ages and all levels of play. It is arguably the premier tennis tournament in British Columbia.
The English Bay Tennis Courts are a set of 17 tennis courts. The lower 6 courts are pay courts that can be reserved. The remaining 11 courts are first-come, first-served courts available for 30 minutes at a time. Note that during tournaments all the courts will not be available for public use.
Supposedly, the English Bay Tennis Courts were built over what was a World War II ammo depot. We really hope that they removed all the ammo before building the tennis courts! If you know anything about this, please let us know.
The Lost Lagoon Tennis Courts are a set of 4 tennis courts on Lagoon Drive near Lost Lagoon. These courts are first-come, first-served courts available for 30 minutes at a time.
The Tennis BC organization runs the 6 lower English Bay tennis courts from April to September.
UPDATE: The 2026 season starts on April 1, 2026 and ends on September 30, 2026!
They offer private and group lessons, weekly group drills, reserved courts, summer camps, and organized play. You can book these courts in 30 minute periods up to 2 hours up to 7 days ahead.

The English Bay Tennis courts are located behind the Stanley Park Lawn Bowling Club near the English Bay entrance to Stanley Park.
The Lost Lagoon Tennis courts are located on Lagoon Drive on the east side of Stanley Park where it meets the West End neighbourhood (at the very end of Robson Street).
For the English Bay Tennis Courts: Enter Stanley Park via the Beach Avenue entrance, and take your first right turn directly after passing the Vancouver Parks Board Office. Head straight into the lot for about 100 metres.
For the Lost Lagoon Tennis Courts: You can park in the same parking lot described above and take a short walk over to the Lagoon Drive courts.
For the English Bay courts, use the dedicated parking lot located right next to them (accessible via the first right after the Vancouver Parks Board Office). This same lot is also the closest option for the Lagoon Drive courts, sitting just a couple of minutes' walk away.
Note that the main lot at the Parks Board Office is reserved for official business during weekday work hours. You can also look for city spaces inside the West End neighborhood, but please be aware that street space is limited to 2-hour paid parking parameters. For full tracking rules, check out our guide on Parking in Stanley Park.
