During July and August every year, Theatre Under the Starts (TUTS) puts on famous musicals in beautiful Malkin Bowl in Stanley Park.
Each year 2 different musicals are performed on alternating nights.
All seating is outdoors so be prepared for the weather. It can get cool at night so bring a sweater and/or an umbrella!
Shows start at 8pm, except on the 3 Celebration of Light Fireworks and Festival nights when they will start at 7pm.
The musicals usually go for about 2 hoursor longer with a 15-20 break after about 1.5 hours.
Additionally, there is a garden cafe with hot and cold food, a hot drinks bar featuring hot chocolate, coffee and tea and a Wine/beer bar.
For 2024, the musicals that are Cats and School of Rock.
Preview nights are: Cats on July 5 and 6th, 2024; School of Rock on July 7 and 8th, 2024
The musicals will run from July 10, 2024 to August 23, 2024 on alternating nights.
The musicals start at 8pm, except on fireworks nights July 20 and July 24, 2024 when they will start at 7pm!
Yes, the seating for Theatre Under the Stars is outside. The stage is covered.
TUTS offers Exchange Insurance for $5 extra for inclement weather or if you may not be able to attend a performance.
Save $10 on early bird tickets from May 23, 2024 to June 19, 2024.
It is a $10 cheaper on preview nights (July 5-8, 2024).
There are front and back seating sections.
There are 4 Ticket price zones: A, B, C, and D with A being in the front centre, B being on the left/right front and middle back, C being the left and right back, and D being the last 2 rows.
Regular Prices for Adults: $30-$65 per show, Youth(5-12): $30, Student Rush: $20. Groups of 10/20 get $5/$10 off respectively, except for student rush prices, early bird nights, or preview nights.
They also have exchange insurance for $5/ticket extra. Check the tuts website for all the details.

There is seating "on the hill" on the right-hand side of the venue. Entry is charged at a lower fee(???). People bring their own portable seats and/or blankets to sit on. Usually, there are many families with little kids that sit here. The only drawback, other than not having a chair provided, is that the view may be limited on the right hand and back side of the stage, i.e. you may not have a completely unobstructed view of the entire stage.

Note that shows do sell out so there may not be any seats available at the box office when you get there as we found out. We ended up sitting on the hill which was ok, but hard on the bum!
There is very limited parking at the Stanley Park Pavilion parking lot, but there is a large parking lot about 100 meters north at the Stanley Park Junction.
Further parking can be found a few minutes away across Pipeline Road.
